DescriptionDaniel Poon traded as The Chin Hop Co., at Market Street, Fremantle, as fruiterers and greengrocers.
Also known as Chen Hop and Co.

Believed to have operated from c.1891, possibly as Chen, Sing, Hop & Co.? and located at 133 High Street, Fremantle.

Awarded the tender to supply vegetables to Fremantle Hospital in the early 1900s (for example, see West Australian, 1 July 1901, p. 4).

In 1901, partner Hoi Gee travelled to China and permission was sought to bring Yep Him, a fruiter from Little Bourke St in Melbourne to the shop in Fremantle. A certificate was granted, via Paul Soong Quong, but not know if Yep Him travelled to Fremantle. (SRO, S675, 1901/1795)

They moved to new premises at 54 Market Street, Fremantle, in about 1909 and remained there until 1938 when they moved to 48 Market Street, Fremantle.

Bankruptcy proceedings were commenced against Daniel Poon in 1916 (West Australian, 27 October 1916, p. 11).
