Biographical informationCheong Loong Joshua was born in December 1874 in Canton, China. He migrated to Australia in 1890 and moved to Western Australia in 1892. He was five feet and two inches in height.

He worked as a shop keeper. He leased a shop in William Street, Perth, from at least 1903. In 1916, he operated the J. C. Loong Laundry, at 458 William Street, Perth. In 1921, he was recorded as a shop assistant at Chen Hop's store, Market Street, Fremantle. He returned to Perth and worked as a shop keeper in Hun Sun's fruit shop at 388 William Street.
