Biographical informationLeong Chuck (aka Leung Chuck) was born in February 1891 in Canton, China. He arrived in Western Australia with his father, Ah Fun (1), in 1899. His father later returned to China. He was five feet four inches in height.
He worked as a shop assistant in Point Street, Fremantle from 1899 until 1906 when he moved to Wagin and worked as a house servant and gardener (G). In 1912 he was recorded as working as a shop assistant for Chen Hop & Co., 54 Market Street, Fremantle. He worked in Way Lee's store, 16 South Terrace, Fremantle, in 1916. He returned to Chen Hop's store in 1923 and was recorded as working there until at least 1930 (E). Just before World War II, he opened a vegetable shop in Petra Street, East Fremantle (N). Leong Chuck married in China in 1923 and had a son.
