Biographical informationPoon Daniel was born in May 1876 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in October 1896. He was five feet nine and a quarter inches in height

He was the owner of the grocery store Chin Hop at 54 Market Street, Fremantle. Bankruptcy proceedings were commenced against Daniel Poon in 1916 (West Australian, 27 October 1916, p. 11).

After this he worked in the Hop War Laundry, 63 Point Street, Fremantle, in 1918. He worked in Sing Kee's Laundry, 97 South Terrace, Fremantle, then returned to Chin Hop in Market Street, in 1919.
