Biographical informationWay Hin was born in March 1873 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1893. He was five feet seven inches in height.

He was a partner at C. H. Warley & Co., 4 Market Street, Fremantle, with a share in the business valued at £500 in 1898. He worked in the Chen Hop store at 54 Market Street, Fremantle, in 1916.

He travelled overseas four times: November 1900 to June 1902; November 1904 to April 1906; July 1912 to January 1914; and October 1919 to January 1921.
