Biographical informationSUE Douglas Roy was born in 1916 in West Northam, Western Australia. He was the son of Ah Sue (4) and Ivy Mary Gertrude Dale. He grew up in York, Western Australia.
In July 1935, in York, he married Lydia (Linda) Maude Kathleen Stewart.
In World War 2 he enlisted for the Royal Australian Air Force (#81542). He enlisted on the 14th August 1942 and served as a Leading Aircraftsman and Flight Mechanic. He was discharged in February 1946.
At the time of his enlistment he gave his occupation as "labourer" and he was working as a stacker for the Commonwealth Wool Committee, South Fremantle. He recorded that he was married to Linda Maude Sue. They were living at 117 Herbert Road, Shenton Park. They had two daughters: Valerie (b. 1935) and Delores (b. 1941).
