DescriptionColonel Edward William Haynes and Septimus Burt owned an orange garden at Gooseberry Hill (probably Swan Location 311) where they employed Top Mole as a market gardener in the 1880s. They still owned this property in 1902 (P.O. directory).
In 1904, Ah Ling (1) was living in a house on (or next to) Swan Location 311 and had a plantain plantation and an orchard. He had either bought a section of 311 from Burt and Haynes or was leasing it.
They also owned other properties in what is now the Kalamunda area: Canning Locations 80, 123, 150, 151 and 259.
Haynes also, himself owned Swan Location 320 and Canning Locations 506 and 507 Heidelberg, now known as Carmel.
