Biographical informationAh Song (or Ah Thong) worked as a market gardener on Gong Sam's market garden, Perth, in 1888.
In 1891 Ah Song [Thong] was arrested at Gooseberry Hill for attempting to shoot three 'Europeans' who he suspected were stealing oranges. It is likely that Ah Song was a tenant on the lands of Burt and Haynes. The trial was aborted (Nolle prosequi) - perhaps facilitated by the fact that Burt was the Attorney General at the time.
From 1898 to 1902 an "Ah Thong", almost certainly Ah Song, was listed in this same area as a market gardener. The location was given as the "Darling Range Quarries" (Post Office Directories). This is likely to be Stathams Quarry, Gooseberry Hill, on the Zig Zag, where remnant fruit trees have been recorded.Other nameAh Song (differentiated name)Ah Thong (also known as)
