LOUEY LING TACK

Description

Biographical informationLouey Ling Tack was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1883. He was the son of Louey and Jane Wah and brother of Louey William Arthur. He moved to Western Australia in about 1900 after finishing his schooling in Melbourne. He was known within the family as George. He was five feet six inches in height.

He married Tack Ethel Victoria May in the early 1900s and they had a son called Arthur in China in 1908. At this time he was running a pearl dealership on the corner of Dampier Terrace and Napier Terrace in Broome. From 1913 until 1918 Louey Ling Tack worked in Sydney Fong & Co. retailers in Marine Terrace, Geraldton, Western Australia. After this he returned to Broome.

In the 1920s he and Andrew Bean Fong ran Wing Hing & Co. Ltd, a greengrocer on the corner of William and James Streets in Northbridge, Perth.

In 1928 he and Ethel accompanied Fong Kee and his children back to China. Louey Ling Tack returned to Western Australia in 1929, but Ethel stayed in Hong Kong.
