Biographical informationFONG, Arthur was born in Canton, China in 1908 and grew up in Kowloon. His mother married Fong Sydney.
After his mother died in China in 1914, Fong Sydney brought him and his sister, Fong Irene, to Australia on student education permits in 1918.
He lived at Broome with Louey Ling Tack and Jane Wah who appear to have adopted him.
In 1920 he moved to Perth and schooled at the Christian Brothers College in Victoria Avenue, Perth and then Stott's Business College.
He worked in Louey Ling Tack's businesses and he married his wife: Pearl. He travelled overseas from February 1927 to March 1931 (after seeking an extension for his Certificate of Exemption which were only valid for a 3-year period).
When he returned he took over Louey Ling Tack's businesses when Louey left to live in Hong Kong.
