Biographical informationGeorge Washing (aka Wah Shing) was born in about 1824. He migrated to Victoria, Australia in 1854. He was a cabinet maker.
He married an English woman in Victoria, Louisa Elizabeth Myer (or Myers) in 1865 (BDM Vic 1840/1865).
They had eight children but two of them, Harriet and Edward, died in infancy.

5) 1874 Edward SHING (BDM Vic 96/1874. Edward died at the age of two BDM Vic 1876/4005)
6) 1876 Charles Joseph WAH SHING (BDM Vic 109/1876)
7) 1877 Alfred Louis WAH SHING (BDM Vic 12667/1877)
8) 1879 Ernest James SHING (BDM Vic 98/1879)
In 1899 he requested entry to Western Australia as his wife Louisa had died in 1890 (BDM Vic 16594/1890) and he had two sons, Albert and Charles, living in Perth. Approval was given and he arrived in Western Australia in June 1900 on the SS Pilbara (SRO, CSO file 1899/2072).
