Biographical informationAh Hoo (1) travelled on the 'Clarence Packet' from Fremantle to Dirk Hartog Island with King Chu, Ah Chuck, Ah Phom and Ah Soor to work for A. Brown. During the voyage, on 14 July 1881, Ah Hoo witnessed the murder of Ah Soor by Captain O'Grady and Sidong, a Malay, who beat him with wood and rope and then threw his body overboard. In September 1881, Ah Hoo sailed to Perth to appear as a witness at the trial of O'Grady who had been charged with the murder of Ah Soor.
