Biographical informationAh Chuck (1) travelled on the 'Clarence Packet' from Fremantle to Dirk Hartog Island with King Chu, Ah Hoo (1), Ah Phom and Ah Soor to work for Audrey Brown.
During the voyage, on 14 July 1881, Ah Chuck witnessed the murder of Ah Soor by Captain O'Grady and Sidong, a Malay, who beat him with wood and rope and then threw his body overboard.
In September 1881 he sailed for Perth to appear as a witness in the trial of O'Grady for the murder of Ah Soor. Whilst in Perth he stayed at the Poor House before moving to Mrs Jackson's lodging house in Perth.
