She was the wife of Fong Kee and mother of Frang, Harold, Tereasar, Mary, Arthur, Mollie and Jacob. She was five feet in height.
The family were living at Yankee Town, Carnarvon, in 1916. They moved to Broome in 1917 (B). Fong Kee and Mary married in Broome in 1917 (BDM 1100011/1917).
She travelled overseas between December 1919 and April 1920 (D).
Believed to have divorced Fong Kee c.1928 and Fong Kee took the children to China. (South Flows the Pearl, p. 244).
Married Robert Vincent Emmett in Fremantle in 1931 (BDM 2700086/1931). Robert later divorced/had the marriage annulled on the basis that Mary was still legally married to Fong Kee. There are many newspaper articles about the divorce case which can easily be found on Trove by searching for the term 'Mary Emmett'.
