Hop Lee Furniture Factory, West Perth

Description

DescriptionThe Ching, Hop Lee, Furniture Factory operated from several premises. In 1906 it was operating from Charles Street. In 1910, was located at 57 Charles Street, on the corner of Garden and Charles Streets, Perth and described as 'manufacturer of all kinds of furniture' (PO Directory, 1910, p. 909). By 1916 the company was listed as operating from 45-47 Charles Street.

Ah Shue and Ah Ching (Mok Ching) were partners. In 1916, Ah Shue slept on the premises at 104 Duke Street and the partners employed four other cabinet makers who slept in a house at the same address, but separated from the business premises.

Ching Hop Lee supplied furniture to Zimpel's Furniture.

May also have been known as Sing Hop Lee.
