Biographical informationAh Yoogk was born in December 1883 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in January 1901. He was five feet and five inches in height. His father, Wee Duck, applied to the Colonial Secretary for him to be allowed to enter Western Australia. As he was only 16 at the time and under age, the restrictions under the Immigration Restriction Act 1897 did not apply and he was able to come to Western Australia.
He worked as a carpenter at Perth in 1902 (A). Recorded as a shop keeper at Fremantle in 1909 and a shop assistant residing at 104 Duke Street, Perth, in 1916. In 1918 he worked for Ah Sam, 112 Barrack Street, Perth (B).
