By 1947, Mr Kim from Hop Hing & Co. applied to employ him as a shop assistant.
When applying for a job as a shopkeeper in 1947, it was noted that Yeon Wan Fart, ‘was employed as a diver in the pearling industry. But on account of his ill health and the Doctor’s advice that he is not fit to return to Broome as a diver, so it is necessary for him to remain in Perth for medical treatments.’
National Archives holds a file on You Sang (1947/H/948, Item ID: 327860) but this has not yet been digitised and the access status is 'open with exception'.
After an extension was granted in 1947, it was not extended again the year after. Yeon Wan Fart was deported and boarded the 'SS Gorgon' on 27 October 1948 from Onslow for Singapore and Hong Kong.
