Biographical informationYingman, Peter was born in Canton, China around 1877. He migrated to Western Australia in 1898.
He worked as a Partner in the firm of Ah Kwong & Co, 349 Murray St, Perth, from 1906 and lived in Lake St, Perth.
He was a president of the Chung Wah Association and Kuo Min Tang Association. Took an interest in sport and, in his youth, was a footballer and boxer.
He travelled overseas from November 1911 to September 1912.
Yingman was known in the Chinese community for his knowledge of Chinese literature and ability to quote from the classics. He also wrote a number of plays in English which were performed in Perth and the Eastern States. He founded a school for Chinese children in Perth.
Yingman died in October 1930 and was buried in Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth.
