Biographical informationWong Bue William (aka Billy Bue) was born in August 1879 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1896. He was five feet five inches in height. He was the elder brother of Wong Chew (2).
He travelled overseas from March 1913 until May 1914. He applied for registration as an alien (war precautions) in 1916. At that time he was a market gardener working along the eastern section of Suburban Road in South Perth, in the area that is now around Hurlingham Road and Heppingstone Street. This area was cleared in 1934 to make way for the Hurlingham Polo ground.
From 1934 Wong Bue and his brother lived and worked as market gardeners at Lot 7, Suburban Road, South Perth. They remained there until at least 1951. Wong Bue is reported to have been blind later in life.
