Description

Biographical informationLee Wood James (1) was born in January 1860 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in February 1892.

He applied for naturalisation in late 1900. He was described as a fruitgrocer and laundry proprietor at this time. His request for naturalisation was refused.

He married Lin Hop, Lucy in 1901. They had five children: May (b. 1902); Ruby (b. 1904, d. 1925); James (b. 1906); Dolly (aka Mabel) (b. 1908); and William (b. 1910).

In 1909 his occupation was recorded as a butcher. In 1916 he was a storekeeper at 126 James Street, Perth, and lived at 11 Tiverton Street, Perth. By 1930 he was working in the Kwong Lee shop, Perth.
