AH YONG (5)

Description

Biographical informationAh Yong (5) was born in December 1886 in China. He migrated to Western Australia in June 1902. He was the son of Charlie Ling On, brother of Ah Ping (11). He was five feet and five inches in height.

Gardener on Gee Kee's garden, Curtis Street, Osborne Park, in 1916 and then on a garden in River Street, South Perth in January 1917.

In September 1917 he worked for two months as a labourer at the Duke of York Hotel in Murray Street, Perth, then at 216 Roe Street, Perth.

He was recorded as a shop keeper of 'smart appearance' working for George Shom at 815 Hay Street, Perth, in 1919.

Ah Yong travelled overseas between February 1907 and October 1908.

He was fined 40 shillings in September 1918 and 20 shillings in April 1919 for 'Being Found in a Gaming House'. In December 1918 a charge of vagrancy brought against him was dismissed.
