Biographical informationAh Poon (1) went before the Albany Magistrate's Court on 7 March 1881, charged with being in possession of two sovereigns, allegedly stolen from another Chinese person. Ah Poon was searched and found to have in his possession, one sovereign and a £1 note for which he could give no explanation. Ah Poon was sentenced to four months imprisonment with hard labour. Logue was used as an interpreter during the trial. On 17 April 1890, Ah Poon was reported to have been with Ah Tooey and Ah Sing (30) at the house of Ah Hoe (1) in Albany on the night Ah Sing died (C).
In January 1891 Ah Poon brought a charge of assault against Ah Hook and Kee Chee. John Watson (Lee Wat Sun) interpreted. Ah Hook was renting a room in Ah Poon's house. When Ah Poon wanted to terminate the arrangement, Ah Hook Pushed him out. Kee Chee and Ah Hook then hit him on the head with sticks.
