Biographical informationAh Chow Jim was described in a newspaper article as "a strong looking man". In 1889 he was suspected to have leprosy but was examined by Dr. Jameson and Dr. Kenny and found not to be suffering from the disease.
In January 1890 he appeared as a witness with Ah Hung against Gong Kee who was charged with selling liquor without a licence.
By March 1890 Ah Chow Jim was living in Albany with Fanny Taylor where he prosecuted Ah Kiat and Ah Dong for stealing vegetables from his garden at Middleton Road.
In January 1891 he was a witness to the assault of Ah Poon by Ah Hook and Kee Chee in Albany. Ah Ngnong and Ah Kim were also witnesses.
In 1893 Ah Chow Jim bought an enclosed garden in Perth. Later he worked for Mrs Shearn at Canning during which time he was frequently ill.
He was working for Ah Ting at Bayswater when it was reported on 24 November 1896 that he was suffering from leprosy. A thorough medical examination revealed no signs of the disease (C).
