More Sie Timothy Chiew was born in Guangzhou in 1882, which was known as Canton at the time, and arrived in Australia in 1898. As he looks a young man it is possible that this portrait was taken soon after his arrival in Australia at the Ruskin Studio in Perth. He operated a produce store called J & S Chiew at 99 James Street, Perth. He married May Lee Wood in 1922, and died 1945.
