Biographical informationLowe Charles (aka Lawe Charles) was born in about 1868 in China. The date on which he migrated to Western Australia needs further research. He was the son of William Yee Lowe, a shopkeeper.
He married L. Lowe in China in about 1890 and they had son a born c. 1893.
He worked as a shop assistant and merchant at C. H. Warley & Co., Market Street, Fremantle. He lived and worked on the premises.
He travelled to China from June 1900 until September 1901.
He contracted bubonic plague and died of it in July 1902. His body was taken and cremated at Woodman Point. At the time of his death, he was stated to be 32 years old with a wife in China. At that time was living above the C.H. Warley shop. 14 people living with him were all taken a quarantined at Woodman Point.
