Biographical informationYuen Willis (aka William Yuen) was born in 1915 in Chung Gwok, China. He was the son of Yuen Kum and Maggie Yuen. He was brought to Western Australia as a child, by his mother and father, in 1924.
In 1939 he married Lee Kong Dorothy May (b 1922, d 2013).
After the death of his father in 1943 he took over the management of the family furniture making and polishing factory, J. W. Wing & Co., at 235 Newcastle Street, Perth. He was married at that time and had two children.
In 1946 he had a serious eye infection and his eye specialist, Dr Gawler, insisted he stopped working at the furniture factory. His young brother Albert left the Royal Australian Air Force to take over his management duties.
