Biographical informationHedland Yee Lock Quan Sing was born on the 28 October 1935 in Port Hedland. He was the son of Yee Lock Quan Sing and Cheong Mon Hong.
He left for China in April 1937 with his family. As his mother was on a visiting visa and therefore not eligible to return to Australia, the entire family left. His younger brother was only a few weeks old at the time. After considering the implications of Australian-born children and the granting of CEDTs, Hedland was issued a CEDT but it was subsequently cancelled. His younger brother, George, was not granted a CEDT but fingerprints taken prior to his departure were used decades later to allow George to return to Australia to visit.Date of birth28th October 1935
