Biographical informationShom, George Benjamin was born in Perth on the 20th March 1919 (BDM 100694/1919).

He was the son of George Shom and Zena Elizabeth Shom and the brother of Josephine Deborah Shom.

He enlisted for armed service in July 1941 in the general reinforcements. He gave his profession as mechanic and he was single at this time. At this time he was living with his mother at 90 Fifth Avenue, Mount Lawley. He saw active service for most of the war in the Middle East and in New Guinea.
