Biographical informationLow You was born in July 1877 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in June 1898.

He worked as a market gardener in St Johns Street, Leederville, in 1916. In 1918 he was employed as a cook in the J. W. Wing Furniture Factory at 235 Newcastle Street, Perth, then as a polisher (B).

Years later he worked as a cook for Wong Sue in the Canton Cafe, William Street, Perth. After retiring from there he returned to J. W. Wing Furniture Factory and cooked for the workers and family of Yuen Kum.
