Biographical informationLem Tie was born in December 1880 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1893. He was five feet three and a quarter inches in height. He may have been related to Lem Yeuk.

He worked as a laundryman at the Tramway Laundry, 224 High Street, Fremantle, from at least 1907 until 1918 when he moved to 361 Hay Street, Subiaco (F). In 1921 he worked in the Shing Lee Laundry, 295 Newcastle Street, Perth (A).
