Biographical informationLee Wan Chong, aka Ah Quon, aka Ah Quong, was born in about 1880 in Taishan, Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1901. He was the brother of Lee Lee Chong.
He worked as a market gardener in Osborne Park. Later he worked for Wing Thoon and Hi Dong at York in the 1930s before starting his own garden with his brother Lee Lee Chong, in York trading under the name of Lee Ackman (M).
In August 1947 Lee Lee Chong and Lee Wan Chong were assaulted near their home in Bland Road, York. In 1948 he was sued by Mrs Cis Lee Tong for the sum of 279 pounds and 10 shillings which she claimed to have lent him. Mrs Lee Tong was storekeeper in Wyndham, but was born in the same village in China as Lee Wan Chong Lee Wan Chong. He denied the debt. In January 1949, together with his brother, he was accused unlawfully assaulting Sergeant Dowsett and Constable Mitchell (police officers) at his market garden.
