Biographical informationViolet May Lee Kong (née Spicer) was born in August 1892 in South Australia. She was half Chinese by birth. She was the wife of Lee Kong Sam and was recorded as 'Chinese by marriage'. They were married in 1916 (BDM 4900002/1917).

Violet and Lee Kong Sam had at least eight children: 1) William (b. 1909), 2) Jack (b. 1913), 3) Sydney (b. 1915), 4) Edward (b. 1917), 5) Jim(b. 1919), 6) Dorothy May (b. 1921), 7) Edna Mavis (b. 1924) and 8) Jean (b. 1926).
