Biographical informationHop Wah Charley was born in November 1856 in Canton, China. He migrated to Victoria, Australia in 1883 and moved to Western Australia in 1897. He was five feet four inches in height. His wife and three children remained in China.
He was a partner in the Hop Wah Laundry, 304 Beaufort Street, Perth, from at least 1899 to 1919 (F). He also owned property at Cannington in 1904 (A). He still owned property (probably a market garden) at Canning Location 2, Lot 50 in 1925. In 1929 he took over the lease of what had been the Yee Wah market garden in South Perth.
