Biographical informationGooey Tong was born in February 1876 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in April 1896. He was five feet and eight inches in height.
He worked as a cabinet maker and partner in the Gee Hop Furniture Factory, James Street, Perth, in 1902. In 1911 he was working in the Washing Brothers factory at 407 Murray Street, Perth.
In 1914 he opened his own factory: Wah Hing & Co., at 46 Stirling Street, Perth. He moved into new premises at 14/16 Dyer Street, West Perth, in 1916. The factory was registered until at least 1921. In 1924 he was recorded as working in Railway Street, West Perth.
