Biographical informationFong Yee was born in about 1873 in China. The date on which he migrated to Western Australia needs further research.
He worked as a greengrocer at Perth, possibly at 165 William Street (Ah Key & Co.). He was the uncle of Fong Bean. In 1899 his profession was described as 'Draper Assistant'.
On 1st March 1901 he contract bubonic plague and was removed by force to Woodman's Point Quarantine Station. A number of newspapers questioned the force and cruelty of his removal.
