Biographical informationFong James was born in October 1883 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in October 1899. He was five feet seven and a half inches in height.

He was a student and shop assistant at 349 Murray Street, Perth [Ah Kwong & Co.], in 1916. He moved to Geraldton in 1917 (B). In 1927 he was recorded as a shop keeper at Broome. He was working in a laundry in 1937 (E).
