Biographical informationChu Chee (aka See Chu Chee) was born in about 1855 in China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1898. He was five feet and nine inches in height.

He worked as a shop keeper. He leased a shop in Fremantle in 1898. He left Western Australia in April 1902, returning in June 1902 on the SS Minilya with his two sons: Ah Poy (3) and Quock How.

CHEW LUN May was on the SS Minilya with them and in 1914 she gave evidence that Chu Chee had originally had a wife in Australia but that she had returned to China "many years before". She and others noted that Chu Chee was a confirmed opium smoker and gambler.
