Biographical informationChew Lun (aka Ah Lun and Chew Lung) was born in August 1861 in Canton, China. He migrated to Western Australia in February 1889.
He was married to May Chew Lun (b. 1865. d. 1919). He was father of four children all born in Western Australia: Lun Quark Sing (b. 1895), Harry (b. 1903, d. 1924), Ada (b. 1904) and Emily (b. 1907).
He worked as a shop keeper at Fremantle before travelling overseas in February 1902 (probably with his wife and son). He returned in June 1902. In 1907, a quantity of opium was seized at Chew Lun's house in Jandakot. He was fined £10.
He was a market gardener at Bibra Lake in 1916 (refer to Chew Lun's Market Garden, Bibra Lake). Ratebooks indicate he may have been in Bibra Lake much earlier, around 1906 and leased land from Ramsey and Laurence.
After his wife died, Chew Lun took his children to China, leaving in September 1920. He returned to Western Australia alone in September 1927 (CEDT extension granted).Other nameChew Lun (differentiated name)AH LUN (also known as)CHEW LUNG (also known as)Date of birthAugust 1861
