Biographical informationCarson Willie was born in about 1883 in Canton, China. After his mother died his father took him to Australia. He arrived at Port Darwin in about 1896, aged 13, with his father and Sam C.
He remained in Darwin for six years working for Him Hi Yick as a domestic worker and then went to Melbourne where he worked for five years for Sun Wah Chong. He then travelled from Melbourne to Fremantle on the SS Coolgardie where he remained for a few days before boarding the SS Minilya for Cossack in about 1907.
He was working with C. Sam for See Sing & Co. in Roebourne, from 1907 or 1908 until 1912 (G). In 1911 he stated that his father had returned to China some time previously and had died.
