Biographical informationAh Yick (8) (aka Jimmy) was born in about 1877 in Kwangtung, China (also stated 21st October 1874 in his WW2 registration file). He migrated to Western Australia in 1897. He was five feet and three inches in height.
He lived in Perth for about 8 and half years working as a market gardener. From 1898 he and Mong Chong leased a garden in Beaufort Street, on the property of Mr W Waldock. He lived on the corner of Beaufort and Brisbane Street. He then moved to Wooroloo for one year in 1908.
He moved to Port Hedland in about 1909. He was working as a boarding house keeper and cook at Port Hedland in 1938 (E) and had been living at Wodgina, Port Hedland for at least 15 years. He was issued a Chinese passport in 1938.
