Biographical informationIn 1886 Ah Toon (6) was working for Henry Woodman at the Freemason's hotel. On 30 June that year Woodman was charged and convicted in the Albany court for striking Ah Toon.
By 1890 he was working as a market gardener and leasing land on Perth Road from the son of W.G. Knight.
In July 1893 Ah Toon was brought up before the Albany Police Court charged with the theft of a pipe, the property of J. Chester, from the Billiard room of the White Hart Hotel. The prosecutor requested that the case be abandoned and this was complied with by the Resident Magistrate who stated that he had known Ah Toon for fourteen years "and always found him an honest man".
By October 1893 he was employed as a cook by Hassell at Jerramungup. Ah Toon absconded from Hassell's service on the 22nd October 1893 and headed into the bush towards Esperance, after he had accidently shot Jack Stamp in the left shoulder while out hunting tammar wallabies. After two weeks in the bush he returned. He absconded again on 20 November but returned that evening. He was punished by not being reinstated and was sent away (I).Other nameAh Toon (differentiated name)
