Biographical informationAh Thou was admitted to the Mount Eliza Depot as a pauper on 5 April 1878. As Ah Thou was blind and unable to speak English, it was suggested that Ah Cum act as interpreter. Ah Thou requested that he be returned to Hong Kong where his two brothers lived. He also expressed a desire to be admitted to the Chinese Hospital in Hong Kong. Approval was given to return Ah Thou to Hong Kong.
