Biographical informationAh Quee migrated to Western Australia in May 1848 per the 'Champion' from Singapore with 30 other Chinese.
On 30 August 1848, Ah Quee, Ah Chee (2) and A Kin left Fremantle for Albany. On 18 September 1848, he and Ah Chee were taken to Hassell's farm. Ah Quee was retained by John Hassell but Ah Chee was sent back to Albany.
One month after Ah Quee had been in Hassell's service, he complained to Resident Magistrate Camfield at Albany that Hassell was maltreating him. Camfield persuaded Ah Quee to return to Hassell. A few days later however, Hassell charged Ah Quee with stealing a rabbit and flour. The charge was dismissed and Ah Quee refused to return to Hassell's service.
He was employed by Camfield in October 1848 who described him as 'steady, quiet and works hard' (C).Other nameAh Quee (differentiated name)
