When travelling with his wife to Fremantle in 1898, the Inspector of Police in Geraldton had to seek clarification if they came under the terms of the new Immigration Restriction Act. As they had been in the colony for 14 years, the advice was that the Act did not apply to them. He worked as a boarding house keeper and cook at Port Hedland from at least 1911 to 1921 (E). He travelled overseas from January 1912 to August 1912 (D).
