Biographical informationAh Hong (14) was employed by Mr Wallace McLeod, Cherrita Station, Roebourne in 1880 as a shepherd. In November 1881, Ah Hong brought charges against A. Gillam, an employee of McLeod, for assault. The case was dismissed for lack of evidence.
Two months later, in January 1882. Ah Hong was sentenced to 2 months imprisonment with hard labour for absconding from McLeod's service with six other Chinese employees. Four months after his release from jail, on 5 July 1882, Ah Hong was charged with stealing sheep from McLeod. This charge, however, was later dismissed.
