Biographical informationAh Gee was born in 1859 in Foochow (Fuzhou), Fujian, China. He was brough to Western Australia as a coolie by Aubrey Brown of Carnarvon in 1879. In 1887, when he applied for naturalisation, Ah Gee was a market gardener at the Causeway, Perth. Approval for naturalisation was given in October 1887 (C), but the certificate withheld because the one pound fee was not paid.
His application for naturalisation included this statement: “That I reside next the Protestant orphanage next the Perth Causeway in the City of Perth where I carry on my trade of Market Gardener. That I am 28 years of age. That I am in this Colony since 1879 and was imported in that year by Mr Aubrey Brown.
