Biographical informationAh Chew (3) was born in about 1864 in Kongmoon [Jiangmen], China. He migrated to Western Australia in 1880. He was five feet eight inches in height.
He worked as a store assistant for Ah Ling & Co, 127 Barrack Street, Perth in 1899 (C) and was the brother of AH LING (1). In 1902 he was recorded as leasing property which he market gardened (A). In 1916 he was a partner in the firm Ah Ling & Co and worked in the Barrack Street shop (B).
In 1900 he was granted a General Certificate under the Immigration Restriction Act which allowed him to travel for business without having to apply for a Certificate of exemption from the dictation test each time.
