Description

Biographical informationAh Wee (7) was born in Hong Kong, or Canton, c. 1860. He emigrated to Melbourne before coming to Perth in 1893 where he set up as a store keeper.

In 1900 he was a partner in Ah Sam & Co. That year he applied for his son, Ah Fook, to travel from Melbourne, where he lived, to Western Australia to manage the business while he was away.

He travelled overseas in August 1900, returning via Melbourne per "SS Pilbarra" 28 August 1901

Ah Wee wanted to travel overseas because his wife was dangerously ill and because some business affairs in China required his personal supervision.
