Biographical informationAdam James (1791-1846) was labourer in Western Australia from Africa. He had been previously enslaved before becoming emancipated and formerly resided in Cape Town at the Cape of Good Hope. When he died in May 1846, he was buried by Government order and the costs were recovered from his estate. He died intestate and left an estate of £36/12/3 cash in the Western Australian Bank.
