Biographical informationBRADY, John, b. 1800 (Ireland), d. 2.12.1871 (France), Bishop of Perth RC, Missionary at Reunion Island 1829-1838 & with Aborigines N.S.W. 1833-1843. Arrived Western Australia 8.12.1843 per Waterwitch from Sydney with O'Reilly and Joostens. Departed 14.2.1844 & returned 8.1.1846 per Elizabeth with band of Benedictine missionaries, including Serra & Salvado. In 1845 was 1st RC Bishop of Perth. Health failed: departed 8.2.1850 per Arcadia & returned per Anna Robertson 18.12.1851. Was involved in debts & quarrels with co adjutor Serra who superseded him in 1852. He retired to France but did not relinquish the see. Departed 19.10.1852 per Eugene.
